subscriber growth helps RIM profit to jumps

RIM's Profits increase


TORONTO (Reuters) - BlackBerry maker Research In Motion reported a higher first-quarter profit that met its forecasts on Wednesday and said it added more subscribers than it had anticipated.

RIM said it earned $482.5 million, or 84 cents per share, in the three months ended May 31. That was up from a profit of $223.2 million, or 39 cents a share, in the same period a year earlier.
